Unusually warm weather across much of the U.S. this week means spring has definitely sprung. No matter where you call home, there's no time like the present to build a strong foundation in Elliott wave analysis: Here's your opportunity to do just that, this May in New York City at our LIVE 1-day seminar -- "Introduction to the Elliott Wave Principle."
Your instructor at this event, Thomas Gilbert, graduated with a degree in Economics from Princeton, where he studied the Random Walk and Efficient Market Hypothesis Theory. But when it comes to trading, Gilbert favors technical analysis -- the Elliott Wave Principle in particular -- over the conventional market models he learned in the Ivy League.
This academic achiever has completed all of the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) exams, is a CFA level II candidate, and a full-time futures trader. Here's a brief Q&A with Thomas Gilbert.
Please talk about any time you've taught or led small groups in the past.
I have some experience organizing groups in school but this is my first time teaching and I’m looking forward to it!
Why do you want to teach others the principles you've learned?
In the past year I’ve been able to use Elliott to successfully anticipate every major market turn. I want to share this knowledge with others and allow them to contribute their own knowledge and innovation to the growing field of Elliott wave analysis.
How would you describe your communication style?
I tend to be direct and concise. I don’t waste time over-elaborating, and instead enjoy making complex subjects easy to understand.
What turned you on to the Wave Principle, and how long have you used it?
I appreciate it because I’m a visual learner. I like how it’s rational, repetitive, and follows a defined set of rules. This is my third year using Elliott.
Could you give us an example of how you've used the EWP successfully?
I was able to use EWP to forecast and be ready for last summer’s market decline. I took a very successful short position at the top while most fundamental analysts were losing money. Elliott is truly superior to every forecasting tool because you can use it in any market condition.
Why should people take the time to learn and apply Elliott to their investing?
Elliott wave analysis is the alphabet of the stock market. You can’t be a literate trader without using it.
What are you most passionate about when it comes to the teaching content in the one-day seminar?
I’m most passionate about the Fibonacci mathematics. It’s incredible to see a number that is found in nature show up in the stock market. I see the number .618 on a daily basis and will show you how to use it effectively.
What should people expect to gain (or benefit from) by attending an intro seminar that you lead?
I want to give people an intuitive sense of how each wave unfolds and what it feels like in real time trading. If you can anticipate market moves, you can limit your emotion and make successful trades. You can also determine where you are in the Elliott wave structure by recognizing certain emotions. After this seminar you will have an essential foundation that will help you on your way to become a more successful trader.
At his Manhattan event this May, Thomas will interact with you throughout the day, answer your questions, and hold you to your commitment to devote the required time and effort -- all based strictly on our official Elliott Wave International educational materials.
